A Dream Coming True

When I was a little girl I loved to play store. I would pull out the can goods from the pantry and set up shop. The ironing board was my cashier station and one year for Christmas I received a red medal cash register and boy was I in Heaven with that! The store would stay open for days and when Mom needed green beans she had to come shop for them. My customers were my little brother and sister. I would make them shop, stand in line behind pretend customers and even help clean up! Those are great memories for me. When my husband was laid off a
few months ago we had no idea what we were going to do.
We trusted God, knowing His plan was much larger then anything we could
dream and He shown to be faithful in that. Providing every step of the way and allowing us
to see His handywork in every area of our lives.

The Lord places a very special couple in our lives about a year ago. He opened the door for me to work in a business with them selling t-shirs at sporting events. After Mark and I prayed about what we should do they called and asked if I would be interested in selling bed linen. I jumped at the offer knowing we had just prayed the night before for God to open a door. When looking for a location to store the linen and t-shirt supplies the Lord gave us this little house. Its a three room shop and we decided to open a shop rather then just use it as storage.

One of my favorite spots at the shop is this old oak tree.
Oak trees are my favorite and having it stand tall and strong in the front yard
is a
reminder to me that I am loved by Him.

Our little shop has the feel of the country, but its right in the heart of a growing town and we are located on busy Hwy 78 between Summerville and Charleston.
Since our name is Linens & More the more is going to be a paper crafts, hand made jewelery, new and used thrift shop, discount health and beauty items and a few other surprises thrown in the mix. We're excited to give back to our community by offering low prices and friendly service.
Come enjoy a cup of hot coffee and visit with friends..
Its truly a dream come true and one that was in His plan for our lives.
We would like to invite you to our Open House on October 10, 2009.

We're located at 10191 Hwy 78 Ladson at the Carousel Riding School.
We're the little white house under the big oak tree and we look forward to seeing you.
Please make sure to introduce yourself.

What Is Your Favorite?

I LOVE this time of year! The leaves are falling in our yard, the weather although still very warm has gone from the high 90's to the high 80's. The kids are back in school starting a fresh new year and the holidays are just around the corner. I LOVE planning for all of the upcoming holidays. When I was a little girl, fall was always my favorite time of year. I am not sure why fall but I think it had everything to do with family. I'm one of six children, I have two amazing sisters and three of the best brothers a girl could ask for. I can remember at Halloween my Mom would always help us create some costume from items we had at home and my oldest brother would take us younger three outside and "teach" us how to trick or treat. He would stand in the house and make me knock (since I was the oldest of the younger three) then he would open the door (that is if I knocked hard enough to meet his standards) and we would all say "trick or treat!" Of course, it was never good enough the first 10 times so we had to keep trying and "learning" how to do it correct! After all we were the Preacher's kids and we needed to know how to beg! LOL! Next, it was Thanksgiving, I don't know why but Thanksgiving as a kid seemed to consume the whole week and cooking Thanksgiving dinner, well that took the entire day and seemed to taste like what a meal in heaven must taste like. We did not have a TV, but during the holidays if there was not much money we would all work small jobs, then we would pile our money together and rent a TV. I can remember what a special time that was having everyone in the living room watching the old Christmas programs and my brothers and Dad watching football. Then came Christmas, oh, how I love everything to do with Christmas. Each year we would get the Sears catalog and my Mom would let us circle items we wanted. If we really wanted something we would circle it a bunch of times. We never got items from that catalog, but it was so much fun dreaming. I can remember my Mom cooking for weeks making treats and candy and planning for a special day. It was always special, even when we were not sure if there were going to be any gifts under the tree, Mom and Dad always figured out a way to get us each something. I can never remember having a disappointing Christmas. I can remember one Christmas hearing my mom in her sewing room working late into the night making us dolls and stuffed animals to sell to raise money. My oldest sister had a huge part in making Christmas special and still does to this day. When I was little we lived in a small town that had a small store, I can remember her taking us younger three to the store to get gifts for each other. You know, as a child, you don't put much value into where the $2 came from, but as I look back now I know she must have worked hard babysitting to give each of us $2 so we could buy gifts for our family. Its only now that I am older that my parents have let out little bits of how they struggled to provide for six kids on a Pastors salary. Mom said often they would not have any gifts until someone would give them a love offering or the church would give them a love offering. Mom said she would go out the next day and try to stretch the money for all of us. The budget was often $25 per child but Mom & Dad always made it feel like so much more. We opened our gifts one at a time and the gift giving often lasted an hour or two. I guess that's why fall is my favorite time of year. Now that I have a family of my own, I enjoy the holidays as much as I did as a child and we are now passing on traditions to our boys and I just bet, one day they will ponder why fall is their favorite time of year too. What is your favorite time of year?

Love Being A Boy

Do you know what you can make with a few plumbing supplies,
a broken rod from a tent, duck tape and a grocery bag?
Don't worry, I did not know either!

My boys discovered they make an awesome Lightsaber!

And they provide hours of entertainment!

Our youngest has recently discovered Star Wars and our oldest wanted to see if he could make him a Lightsaber, They have the plastic ones but he wanted to see if he could make one tha looked more realistic. He researched youtube "inexpensive lightsabers" and found instructions how to make these cool toys. I had to go to get paint at Lowes and while I was getting paint they went shopping for supplies, $3.45 later we had supplies for two experiments which turned out great! They are always coming up with something interesting, and we never know what will be next!

Dinner Made Easy

Getting ready to open a business, school, taking care of my Dad and having Mark (my Honey) gone from 8-9:30 PM each day makes for a busy life. I like keeping things in the house that I can make quick and easy meals. This evening it was my husbands and boys favorite-meat loaf. Its a dish that I tried to make maybe 20 plus times before I created a recipe we all love. You can go here for the recipe if you are looking for one for you family too.
Because I was in a hurry I made two smaller loaves so they would cook faster.
I always make extra so we can have it for lunches the next day.
I can't take credit for the beautiful glaze on top, this evening I topped it with the extra sauce from left over Chinese take out. I was out of ketchup which is a mortal sin in our house so I decided to try this sauce on top and everyone loved it and kept saying, "Mom, its the best you ever made!" Loved hearing that!

So, a quick and easy meal and everyone was full and happy.
Since everyone has been pulling extra duty helping around the house I decided to make a special treat this evening. My family loves brownies and since I got them on sale at Kmart last week I had all the supplies needed.

We have been doing a kitchen remodel for a few months and this dish was one of those dishes I was going to send to the thrift shop. When we packed up the kitchen it was left out, now I use it all the time and its my go to dish.

The perfect size for a pan of brownies!

CVS-Deal of the Day

Its a great week to shop CVS drug store, they are giving away lots of CVS bucks for items and if you keep regenerating them you can shop for very little like I did today. You can go here to view their weekly add in your area and start saving for your family too.
Original Cost $93.16
Total OOP - $12.66
Savings $80.50

I came home with $10 in ECB for my next trip!
I purchased these items in two trips to regenerate the ECB.

I loved this deal today. These are $8.99 each, if you go here you can print a 3/$10 coupon. I had three coupons for $1 off each one, then if you purchase three at CVS they are giving you $10 in ECB for a future shopping trip. That made this deal from $26.97 to just $3.97

This was another fun deal. These were $3.27 on clearance for $1, I had .75 cent off coupons from the Sunday paper then CVS was giving $1 ECB with the purchase of two-limit one deal.

Thanks to my coupon binder I had these coupons ready and available.
Go here to learn how to create your own coupon binder.

Oscar Mayer Coupon

I just noticed there is a 2/$1 Oacar Mayer Coupon available here this evening.
Keep until there is a BOGO free sale for extra savings.
Just in time for those holiday cookouts! Enjoy!
(If you can't find it try typing in zip code 30013)
One thing I have learned with using coupons is to think out of the box. You don't always have to purchase the item that is pictured. Often there are better deals if you just pay attention to the wording on the coupon. This evening I was at Rite Aid picking up some medication for my honey when I saw these little boxes on sale for $.79 cents. My husband loves these and I knew I had coupons that were getting close to expiring. The coupon had a picture of the large box which was $3.49 and I had to purchase two "boxes"to use the $.70 cent coupon and one "box" to use the $.40 cent coupon. When I noticed these were in a box I decided to try the coupon and I was pleased to get all four boxes for just $1.66. They will be a nice treat added to his lunch this week.
Coupons can be found here for these tasty treats!

What Do You Do?

People ask me all the time, "What do you do with all the extra supplies you get?" Well, over the past few year I have really come to be a big believer in you can't out give God. Last week I was in a dollar type store and ran into an elderly lady who was talking to herself. Often when people do this I tend to move away and not get to close. For some reason my heart was drawn to this lady so I decided to listen to what she was saying. She was looking at the $.99 cent bag of BBQ chips and not knowing anyone was listening she was saying, "These look so good, I have been wanting these." Then she looked in her hands and she had three cans of spaghetti and a loaf of bread, she said, "No, not this week, I have just enough to get this." She then turned around and saw the .25 cent bag of chips and she began to smile. Again, out loud but still in a quiet voice she said to herself, "Maybe I have enough for one of these." She was in one line and I was on the other side of the aisle at another register. The cashier rang her up and she said to the cashier, "If I have enough I want to get this bag of chips too." She did not have enough, she only had .18 cents left. Guess what was sitting on the shelf next to me in line? You got it, a large bag of BBQ chips. I put them with my items then told the cashier to give them to the lady when I walked out of the store. I got in my car and pulled out of my parking space and sat in the back of the parking lot and waited for the lady to come out of the store. When she came out she opened the bag I gave her and tears started streaming down her frail cheeks. That bag of chips cost me what I was saving in coupons but it was worth so much more. We may not have all we want but God has blessed my family with more then we deserve. Even during the tough times, God has been right there with us blessing us time and time again. So for me, giving back is part of my journey. Before my feet hit the floor in the morning the Lord and I have a nice talk. I love starting my day off by praising Him for all he has done and I always ask Him to put someone in my path that I can be a blessing to. Today, he blessed me again and allowed my family to be a blessing to a precious young lady going to college. Her name is Stephanie and she is going to Pensacola Christian College. The thing that impressed me about this young lady is that she has been living in Japan with her parents who are missionaries. She left home and the life she knew, flew 13,000 miles to come America to attend a college she feels is God's will for her life. Her Dad will be leaving her at college then flying back to Japan. I began to think about that this afternoon. As I was thinking about what an amazing family this must be and what a sacrifice they are all making, my husband began to thing about her too. I love it when God works like that. After talking for a few minute about her we decide we would fix her a care package to take with her to college. I was so happy I had a nice stock pile to pull from and we had fun working as a family this afternoon gathering supplies to present this gift to our new friend. We have adopted Stephanie while she is spending time at college and look forward to growing our relation ship with her and her family.

We made her a tower of gifts

Tower #2

Tower #3

This gift tower would have cost my family $65; however, with coupons it cost less then $10.

Psalms 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path,

Let Him light your path this week and on your path ask the Lord to
show you someone whom to be a blessing to and enjoy the journey.
Make sure to share your blessing with me, I would love to hear about it.

More Kmart Deals Today

Ever had one of those nights where you don't sleep a wink? That was my night last night! I didn't even go to bed till after 3 AM because I was not tired, then when I went to bed, I was wide awake. By this time it was to late to take a Melatonin so I thought I will pray, I always fall asleep when I do that. Nope! I must have prayed for everyone in my life 10 times and still no sleep. By this time it was 5:30 AM, my husband woke up quietly trying not to wake me but I was already a wake! Knowing Saturday is now my Monday I got up and got my day going.
Needless to say, after working in the shop all day I was crashing by the
time I went to Kmart and forgot my camera and when I got home I was wiped out!

Today was the last day Kmart would double $2 coupons I decided to go back and finish my shopping. Yesterday I concentrated on health and beauty and household supplies.
Today I wanted to go back and concentrate on the grocery department.

Our 8 year old thought is was so funny that the sales receipt was taller then he was!

Today I spent $236.16
Paid OOP $78.91
Savings $157.25

K-Mart Deal of the Day

I just love saving money and getting things FREE! When I discovered that our K-Mart was participating in the double coupon up to $2 I knew it was going to be a great shopping day and boy was I right. Today my purchases would have cost my family $324.57 but with coupons I walked out of the store paying just $89.22 as savings of $235.35!!!!
Plus I walked out with $11 in gift card money for my next trip!
The following are a few deals I found today.
Its sales like this that keep me using my coupon binder. I just took my binder with me, went to a department and looked for coupons that were $.60 cent or larger (we have other stores in town the double up to $.60 cents so my goal today was coupons $.60 or grater. Since my binder is organized by department it was really easy to spot the coupons, get the items and move on to the next sale. You can click here to see how I organize my coupon binder.

The first deal I found was these Chinet paper plates. They were priced at $3.55 and I had a $2.00 off coupon, doubled means it was FREE!
K-Mart does not give you an overage but FREE is good enough for me!

I have these coupons from the Sunday paper but could never find the gloves. Today I was in luck! Not only did I find them but they were FREE! They were priced at $1.69, I had $1 off coupons being doubles made them FREE! They are going to come in handy at the shop!
Because I purchase 3-4 papers a week I was able to get 4 packages.

Ritz were in sale 2/$5 a price I would not pay anymore but when you match that sale with $2 off coupons getting them $.50 a box makes it a much better deal!
These go into the Christmas food pantry to have with Sweet Pepper Jalapeno Jam found here over cream cheese! YUMMY!!!!

This was my favorite deal of the day. I had 6 coupons which were valued $1.50 off two. I had 12 bottles in my cart that I was getting for $.50 cents each for a total of $6. Then I noticed on an end cap these double packs on sale for $2.67!!! So, back went my single jars and in the cart went the double packs that I now got FREE!!!! Again, this is why I get more then one Sunday paper.
Original Price - $32.04
OOP - FREE
Savings - $32.04

Getting ready to open a business means a lot of cleaning so I was pleased to get this bottle of Multi Surface Windex for just $.29 cents!!!

It seems everyone in my family is plagued with arthritis so getting 5 boxes of Bengay for only .$99 cents each was a great savings.
Original Price - $24.95

OOP - $3.96
Savings - $20.97

So, as you can see it was a good shopping day at Kmart and I did not even make it through every department. I did meet several new friends along the way who were interested in the coupon binder and excited to see how much I would save on this trip. Welcome to the blog ladies it was a pleasure meeting you today. I look forward to seeing you at our open house in October!
This is my new friend Colleen! We had a great time exchanging coupon ideas and
finding some great deals together!

Its the weekend, stock up on your Sunday papers! Check out a few of my favorite coupon sites here and here. Also check out Thrifty Mom here for some great shopping deals!

Happy Shopping!!!!

Kmart Is Doubling Coupons

I am so glad I have children because I learned breathing techniques that are helpful when I come across sales like this! Why I did not know about this already I don't know but this morning I discovered our Kmart is participating in the $2 double coupon offer! They will double coupons up to $2 but they do not take competitors coupons like the Rite Aid coupon or Food Lion coupons. I am so happy I filled my binder last night because I am off to Kmart today! Sale ends Saturday so get going! If you would like to view their add to see if your store is participating just go here and type in your zip code. Hope you find some amazing deal this week!
Make sure to tell us about what you find!
Happy Shopping!!!

Just My Luck!

Okay, so it was another busy day getting ready to open our shop and many other things going on in our life. This evening I decided to fix a quick and easy meal. I purchased some delicious chicken legs at Save-A-Lot a few weeks ago and they are great! They were on sale for .58 cents a pound so I got 10 legs for $2.80. They were the no antibiotics added kind and they are so juicy and delicious. I also purchased this easy Chicken and Rice mix that I could not wait to have with our chicken. An easy meal in the works!

So, I seasoned the chicken with some amazing all natural Seasoned Salt found here and put my yummy chicken mix in the pot and my mouth was watering for some good chicken and rice!

My chicken was done and smelled so yummy but when I looked at the chicken rice it was brown! No, not because I burnt it! It was beef rice in the chicken box! I could not believe it! All the mouth watering that I was doing just dried up! Oh, well, we still enjoyed a yummy dinner and had a good laugh about it too! I called the company and they are sending me coupons for more so its all good!
Yummy chicken dinner with beef rice!
and of course....
a cold glass of Crystal Light lemonade!

A Few Coupon Deals

Looking for a quick and easy breakfast as you are running out the door to school?
Try Bagel-Fuls! They come in a variety of flavors and if you go here you can get a $1 coupon.
I purchase them at Wal-Mart for $1.98 a box and when you use your coupon you will get them for just $.98 cents! Enjoy!

If you are looking for the $5 Rite Aid coupon go here and print one. If you don't see it use zip code 30013. If you spend $25 you will receive $5 off. You can use this at Publix too! I print two and use one at Publix then one at Rite Aid because they always have great clearance items especially when you match with coupons. That is where I found the
$.04 cent shampoo a few months ago.

Deal of the Day @ Wal-Mart

Going shopping at Wal-Mart is not my favorite thing to do especially after a long day, but Dad needed a few items and medication so I ventured into the store. I was surprised to see many of the items I normally purchase went up in price again. As I was getting Dad's items I started looking for good deals for our family too. I am working on a few plans one being Kyles upcoming birthday and the second is stocking our Christmas pantry. Kyle LOVES these Oatmeal Cookies and I had coupons for them as well as the cake mix and frosting! I had coupons for the frosting and on the package it had another $.25 cent coupon making it a great deal.
These items would have cost us $87.32
Coupons & Sales $65.32
Total Spent Out of Pocket $22.00

When I print coupons here I always print the available amount. Sometimes the coupons reload and you can print several copies. That is the case with these Crystal Light drinks. We have enjoyed Crystal Light all summer long thanks to some great coupons, but no deal was better then getting nine containers FREE!!! I had coupons that were getting ready to expire so when
I saw Wal-Mart had these marked down to just $1.00 I looked in my binder and had some
coupons $1.00 off one and others were buy 2 and save $2!

Original Price $9.00
Coupons $9.00
Total Out Of Pocket - $0
This evening these Air Wick Freshmatics were on clearance!
As you can see in the photo Wal-Mart had these marked from $11.94 to just $6 a good deal,
but when you add $4 off coupons an even better deal!!!
I had three coupons from here and made a good deal a great deal!
Original Price $35.82
Sale Price with Coupon $6.00
Total Savings $29.82

Deals like this are why I purchase more then one Sunday paper. I had $2 off coupons that were about to expire so I used them on these little tubes that were $1.96. I love keeping in my purse or giving in a gift basket for a sick friend. Add some chicken noodle soup, a box of tissues, a container of Crystal Light, a good magazine and you have a nice gift basket!

Original Price $5.88
Coupon Savings $6.00
They paid me .12 to take them home!
