Homemade Chips

Remember that pot of delicious Taco Soup I made this week? I always serve it with sliced tortilla shells but this evening I wanted to try something a little different to give them a little kick. I decided to bake them and let me just say, I'll never serve them plain again!

Since I was going to serve them on soup I decided to slice them in bite size pieces and the pizza slicer does the job perfectly.

Next, drizzle with a little olive oil, just enough to coat the pieces. I like to mix with my hands so I can feel that all the pieces are covered.
Since I was serving with taco soup I seasoned the shells with taco seasoning. Sprinkle with your favorite spices or herbs then toss again. I also tried it with cinnamon sugar and served with ice cream! Oh, my goodness!!!!!
Broil for three minutes (but keep your eye on them because every oven is different) Toss gently then broil for another 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from oven and let cool.

They continue to crisp as they cool.

Don't you just love this thrift store deal! A stone pan for just $1.49!!!!

Serve with soup and enjoy!

So, how would you flavor your shells? I think next time I am going to try Parmesan cheese!

  1. yum - I always thought they had to be fried. What a great snack idea! Thanks for sharing.
