How To Boil & Peel An Egg

When I was first married I wanted to make deviled eggs but could not master the simple task of making a great boiled egg. Now, I could boil water but making a great boiled egg was another story! I set out to find the perfect way to make a boiled egg that would not end up green around the edge or fall apart when I tried to peel it! After I learned to make a good boiled egg, I had to master the peeling!! So again, I set out to master this task as well. To boil eggs place them in cold water and bring to a rolling boil. When the water starts to boil, set the timer for 7 minutes and let them boil. After 7 minutes turn the burner off and let them sit for another 15 minutes.
When its time to peel them simply fill your pan with cold water

peel them under running water. I've tried several different tricks like adding salt to the water or baking soda but I've found that peeling them under running water works the best.
Try it, I bet it will work for you too and you'll have beautiful boiled eggs!


  1. I'll have to try this. My daughter would live on boiled eggs if I let her. I'll have to pass these tricks on to her as well. Then she can just take care of her cravings herself. She's 11. That's an appropriate age to send them out of the nest, right? Heh heh.
